Plant stakes are natural, right? That’s what we thought too…

Unfortunately, nothing could be further from the truth. Tens of millions of plant stakes and shapes are made of toxins, dead coconut fiber, iron, and plastic.

These are thrown away along with the plant, causing significant damage to the compost.

From potato peels and Elephant grass, we create smart, inspiring growth concepts that make climbing plants fun again.

Why are plant stakes made of plastic, toxins (against mold), and dead coconut fiber as a ‘growth accelerator’?

How is it possible that millions of consumers buy harmful, poorly functioning moss poles and plant shapes every year?

It turns out there is no sustainable and user-friendly alternative worldwide!

We are starting with the development of 100% natural plant stakes, with the natural structure of tree bark. This provides grip and good moisture absorption for the plant.

The challenges turn out to be greater than expected. Creating a rough structure with millions of tiny holes per stake proves to be very difficult.

The products also need to be completely natural & compostable.

This causes some plant stakes to compost while still at the nursery.

Consumers love the concept! Sales displays are being rolled out across hundreds of stores throughout Europe.

Unfortunately, some climbing poles still compost too early. Based on our customers’ feedback and their commitment to making a sustainable impact, we are getting our processes under control.

80% of the climbing poles now stay in good condition for years, even after being in the nursery.

2024

Kratiste poles are independently approved by OWS.

A special milestone: Kratiste is the first compostable plant support in the world. Independently proven to be free of toxins and plastic.

We’ve finally achieved the goal: plant supports and shapes that last up to 12 months in the nursery and for years with the customer. When thrown away the products fully biodegrades into soil. That’s how it should be, in our opinion!
