FAQ
Frequently asked questions about sustainability, Kratiste and the concept.
What is Kratiste?
Kratiste is a collaboration between Ruplex and CoBaplant. Kratiste uses the factory (Geldermalsen – Netherlands) of Ruplex to obtain the products. While CoBaplant provides the organization with all practical matters relevant to cultivation.
How reliable is Kratiste?
In today’s society, we encourage our chain partners to ask questions about reliability. After all, if you are not 100% sure that the source is reliable, how can you trust the sustainability of this party. That is why we have made everything we do fully traceable . No room for green-washing or other practices. But an honest, honest and transparent story. Because people need to be able to rely on our mission !
What is Kratiste's mission?
The mission is to make 1 billion sticks and clips sustainable within 5 years. Any non-durable stick or clip is one too many. We believe that bio-degradable sticks and clips made in the Netherlands, as well as being fully traceable, can have a major sustainable impact on the world.

How sustainable is Kratiste?
In terms of sustainability within plant support, Kratiste is one of the most sustainable parties, if not the most sustainable.
Local production in the Netherlands prevents large amounts of CO2 emissions compared to Asia.
The use of locally grown raw materials such as Miscanthus Giganteus and PLA also ensures a high degree of sustainability.
Why compostable raw material?
The raw materials Kratiste uses are recyclable and biodegradable. However, the (chemical) recycling of materials is only interesting for composting companies if the material is more than 4% of the total.
Partly thanks to initiatives such as Kratiste, this point is being reached sooner. Because sooner or later, the transition from petroleum plastic to vegetable plastic has to take place. As far as we’re concerned, better early than late…
Given that coir, wood and bamboo often need to be impregnated to meet as plant support (mold resistant), we are turning the current contaminated stream into a clean waste stream.
Why is there discussion about PLA?
In many countries in Europe, pure PLA in the GFT waste is no problem at all. Composting plants process the material without problems. In the Netherlands, waste processors prefer not to want the biodegradable PLA .
From research conducted by WUR (Wageningen University & Research), the biodegradability of PLA, even at a larger wall thickness, is such that it bleaches to break down faster than, say, paper and orange peels.
What certification does Kratiste's raw material have?
Kratiste’s products consist of two components: Miscanthus Giganteus and PLA. The latter constitutes the main component. This raw material is certified for biodegradability according to the EN-13432 standard. This standard is intended for packaging. To date, there is no standard that certifies products. The Miscanthus Giganteus is milled only to the correct size, making it naturally biodegradable.
What is the sustainable impact of Kratiste?
Plant support are often relatively light products of about 0.2 to 300 grams each. The impact per stick is not huge. However, if you increase the impact by 1 billion pieces, this sustainable impact becomes huge! Virtually all plant support used is currently sourced from Asia. So thanks to your choice, thousands of miles of transportation are saved!
Our promises
Kratiste’s goal is ultimate transparency. This means, in addition to our ambition to make the range even more sustainable, that our entire story is always honest and traceable.
Biodegradable
The raw materials are biodegradable. The main components are PLA and Miscanthus Giganthus.
Look & Feel
The patented process that we carry out in-house is responsible for unique properties that benefit both plants and customers.
Traceable
Everyone can check the raw materials used via our publicly accessible blockchain. We even grow the Miscanthus ourselves!
Made in Holland
We make our products in the Netherlands, so we can supply demonstrably sustainable products of very high quality.
Are you joining us in pole position?
We can only tackle the climate crisis by pulling together. So we all have an essential role to play.
Whether you are a grower, wholesaler, retailer or consumer, by choosing Kratiste you’re doing your bit to make at least one pole more sustainable. That might seem insignificant, but it means you’re setting a sustainable chain reaction in motion!
